Welcome to the website for the Woodford County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) located in Eureka Illinois.  We hope you find this site useful.  The Woodford SWCD is a local unit of government authorized under the District Act of 1937. Our office was incorporated January 1, 1944. We are here to provide information and technical assistance to farmers, landowners, developers, businesses and local government to help correct and reduce soil erosion, improve water quality and increase wildlife habitat. Districts do not have local taxing authority.  Our staff and operating budgets are funded through a combination of state, federal and local assistance.  While the major portion of our operating funds come from the Illinois Department of Agriculture, we also engage in several different interagency agreements, and sell items such as fish and trees to supplement our funding.  Our office is located on Route 24 just west of Eureka in the USDA Service Center, along with the Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and the Farm Service Agency (FSA).
